Technology

Two material routes, one technology umbrella

Q0 Technology brings together the Q0 BIO route of natural cellulose origin, the Q0 ECO route of recycled PET origin, and the process know-how that turns these routes into products.

Q0 BIO: the natural cellulose route

Q0 BIO starts with cellulose obtained from renewable forest sources. Passing through fibre, yarn and fabric stages, it becomes the material for hygiene- and comfort-focused products.

  1. 01

    Renewable forest

The source of the raw material; supply and document information is tracked with the product.

  2. 02

    Cellulose

A natural polymer obtained from wood and the basis of fibre production.

  3. 03

    Fibre

Cellulose is converted into fibres suitable for textile use.

  4. 04

    Yarn

The fibres are spun into yarn suited to the product's build.

  5. 05

    Fabric

Yarn or fibre is turned into a woven or nonwoven surface.

You will mostly see this route at NEWSOUL; VOA and OWMO also offer BIO options.

Q0 ECO: the recycled PET route

Q0 ECO starts with end-of-life PET bottles. The sorted and cleaned material is first made into granulate and then into fine microfilament surfaces.

  1. 01

    Waste PET

Collected bottles are the starting point of the material.

  2. 02

    Sorting and washing

The material is separated by type and cleaned.

  3. 03

    Granulate

The cleaned material becomes reprocessable granulate.

  4. 04

    Microfilament

Very fine filaments are produced from the granulate.

  5. 05

    Technical surface

The filaments are turned into a technical textile surface suited to the intended use.

You will mostly see this route at FRIGG; VOA and OWMO also offer ECO options.

  • Q0 CORE: undisclosed process know-how

Some process parameters that turn the routes into products are kept in-house. This know-how is not a separate brand or product; a product's composition and use information are stated clearly in its product record.

  • The routes are not mixed

A property of one route is not carried over to the other: natural fibre wording is not used for a recycled synthetic product. Which route a product comes from, and which result belongs to that product, is stated at product level.

  • Where is the evidence?

GreenQ0 is our knowledge hub, explaining measurements, methods and document scope in detail.
