Q0 BIO · the natural cellulose route

From forest to fabric, with nature's own building block

Q0 BIO is the journey of cellulose from renewable forests as it becomes fibre, yarn and fabric. Follow along to see what changes at each step and what needs to be evidenced.

01Renewable forest

It all starts in a forest

The raw material comes from forests managed for renewal. The origin of the wood and its supply documentation form the first page of the product's story.

Source and supply information is tracked with the product.

02Natural wood

Wood is a store of cellulose

The fibrous structure a tree builds up over the years holds cellulose, the most abundant polymer in nature.

The wood species and origin are stated in the supply record.

03Pure cellulose

A chain of hexagonal rings

Cellulose is formed by glucose rings linked into long chains. Once purified, this structure is the raw material for textile fibre.

The purification method and inputs are disclosed at product level.

04Fibre

Chains become fibre

Cellulose is converted into fine, uniform fibres suitable for textile use. Fibre length and fineness determine the hand of the fabric.

Fibre type and blend ratio are included in the product information.

05Yarn

Fibres are twisted into yarn

The fibres are twisted into yarn with the strength and softness the product's purpose calls for.

Nonwoven surfaces skip this step; the fibres are bonded directly into a surface.

06Fabric

The surface is designed for use

The yarn is woven, or the fibres are formed into a nonwoven surface. Weight, construction and finish are chosen for the product's field of use.

A fabric test does not by itself cover the layers, seams or packaging of the finished product.

07In the product

From hygiene to comfort

You will find Q0 BIO materials mostly in NEWSOUL's hygiene textiles, and also in the BIO options from VOA and OWMO.

Product scope and documents are in the relevant brand's product record.

Why natural cellulose?

When a product is designed starting from its source, what it is made of can be explained clearly. Q0 BIO was developed to bring material from a renewable source into hygiene and comfort products.

True sustainability means turning what we take from nature into benefit for people, then returning it to nature with respect.

OPIA ECO

Respect for the soil

Using what we take from nature with care means making a product's end of use part of its design. Any result concerning end of use is shared only with the relevant product's test report.

Where will you find Q0 BIO?

Evidence with scope, not statements

Being of natural origin does not by itself prove every environmental outcome of a product. Biodegradability, carbon and similar results are shared only with the relevant product's test report and scope.
